The Demosthenian Classic
Impromptu Speaking

About this format:
Contestants will draw three topics.

They will speak on one of the topics. Speakers will have a total of seven minutes to BOTH prepare and speak on the issue.

Judges should assign higher ranks to speakers who spend the vast majority of their time (5-6 1/2 minutes) speaking as opposed to preparing.

Speeches should be analytical and well-organized.

Participants should not use newspapers, magazines, internet articles, briefs, books, or reference tools when preparing speeches.
